How the Dog Found Himself a New Master A Mouse Maiden

Sample answer

Once there was a mouse who always wanted to be anyone else, but a mouse. She lived in a magician’s house. One day she ate the magician’s cheese, and it made him very angry. So, he decided to change the mouse into a mosquito, but the magician was not very good at magic. Unfortunately, he changed the mouse into a girl instead.

The girl was very beautiful. The magician’s anger cooled down, and he let her stay at her house. However, she decided to look for the strongest person so that she could marry him. She told the magician about this, and asked him who was stronger—the sun or the cloud.

The magician told her that the cloud was stronger because it could overshadow the sun and make it rain. But then, the magician thought it over and told her that the mountain was stronger than the cloud because the cloud was at the mercy of the wind. She should marry the mountain.

Just then, the girl realized that a mouse can easily make a hole in the mountain. She asked the magician to change her back to a mouse so that she could marry one. The magician did what he was told, and the mouse was delighted to become a mouse again.
